The short version
No adverts or advertising profiles
No sale of personal information
No contact-book or location access
No analytics tracking
Personal reminders, to-do items, preferences and an optional profile photo begin on your device. If you create or join a family space, the information you choose to share is stored securely using Firebase so permitted family members can access it. You stay in control of those permissions.
Who we are
Forget Me Not is developed and operated by Let Me Help. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Let Me Help. Forget Me Not is a reminder and family-support app. It is not an emergency service, medical device or clinical record.
Information we handle
Information kept on your device
- Reminders, optional notes, dates, times, repeat settings, completion status and advance-notice settings.
- To-do items and shopping category preferences.
- Your preferred name, appearance and text-size settings, and an optional profile photo you choose from your device.
- Shopping item/category associations learned from your choices so the app can suggest the same category next time.
The optional profile photo remains in the app's private storage on that device and is not uploaded to Firebase.
Camera and QR invitations
Camera access is optional and is requested only when you choose Scan QR code while joining a family space. Camera frames are processed on your device to read the invitation code. Forget Me Not does not save, retain or upload those frames. You can decline camera access and enter the written invitation code instead.
An invitation QR contains the same temporary invitation code shown underneath it. It does not contain reminder, shopping, to-do, profile or contact information.
Account and family-space information
If you create an account, we handle your email address, Firebase user ID, email-verification status and display name. If you use family sharing, we also handle:
- family-space membership, roles, invitations and the permissions chosen by the person receiving support;
- shared reminders, optional notes, schedules and completion status where completion access has been granted; and
- whether a trusted person has explicitly marked a shared reminder as needing help, plus the selected trusted person's user ID, display name and reminder occurrence; and
- items on the shared family shopping and to-do lists.
Support reports
When a signed-in, verified user sends a problem report or suggestion, we store their description, a unique ticket reference, app version, Android version, device model, date and time, the current app screen, user ID and general role (individual, recipient or helper).
We do not automatically attach reminder text, medication details, shopping-list contents, private notes, connected people's names, contacts, invitation codes, screenshots or authentication tokens.
How we use information
We use information only to:
- provide reminders, to-do and shopping-list features;
- create and secure accounts and verify email addresses;
- let invited people access only the family-space information permitted to them;
- sync shared information between permitted devices;
- show authorised family-space members who has voluntarily confirmed they can help with a reminder;
- restore scheduled reminders after a device restart;
- respond to support reports and improve reliability; and
- prevent misuse and protect users, accounts and the service.
We rely on providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and securing it, and your deliberate choices for optional features such as family sharing, QR scanning, profile photos and notifications. We do not use your information for advertising or automated profiling.
Storage and security
Device-only information is stored in the app's private local storage. Family-space and support information is stored in Firebase. Information is encrypted in transit, and Firebase provides encryption at rest. Access is restricted using verified accounts, database security rules and family-space permissions.
Firebase may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred internationally, Google's contractual safeguards and applicable data-transfer protections are used.
No system is completely secure. Please protect your device and account credentials, invite only people you trust, and remove access that is no longer needed.
Retention and deletion
- Device-only information remains until you delete it, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.
- Shared reminders, shopping items and to-do items remain until they are deleted or the owning family space/account is deleted.
- A reminder helping confirmation remains until the person who confirmed or the recipient clears it, the reminder occurrence changes, or the reminder or owning family space is deleted.
- Invitation codes stop working after 24 hours or after they are used. Invitation records may be kept temporarily for security and service integrity before deletion.
- Support reports are kept only while needed to investigate, respond, maintain a record of the issue and protect the service, then deleted. They are not used to build user profiles.
- When you delete your account, support reports linked to your account are deleted.
Delete your account
In the app, go to Settings → Personal information → Delete account. This deletes your Firebase sign-in and profile, family spaces and shared information owned by your account, invitations created by your account, and support reports linked to your account. If you are a helper, it removes your memberships, help confirmations and the accepted invitation that added you to the family space.
If you cannot access the app, use the account deletion page.
Local reminders and other device-only information are not removed by Firebase account deletion. Delete them in the app, clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app.
Shared content you added to a family space owned by someone else remains with that family space unless its owner deletes it. New shared reminders, shopping items and tasks do not store the creator's account ID. Your membership and any helping confirmations are removed when your account is deleted.
Your choices and rights
You can:
- choose whether to create an account or family space;
- control who joins your family space and what they can access;
- remove a trusted person or leave a family space;
- edit or delete reminders, to-do items and shopping items;
- voluntarily confirm or withdraw help for a shared reminder; recipients can also clear that confirmation;
- choose whether to add a profile photo;
- control camera and notification permissions through Android, and use written invitation codes without camera access; and
- delete your account as described above.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the use of your personal data, and to receive a copy of it. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or your local data protection authority.
Children
Forget Me Not is intended for adults and family support. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly invite children to create accounts.
Contact us
For a privacy question or request, open Settings → Help in Forget Me Not, choose Report a problem, and begin your message with “Privacy request”. This creates a private ticket that only the app administrator can review.
